Rotary Club of Calcutta Visionaries was founded in 2013 by some likeminded members who had a vision of making this world a much better place to live. Well,it was just not a dream!! It was a dream, which was backed by a sheer commitment and an undying dedication to work towards the cause of serving mankind, serving humanity, serving the society.
In the following years, more and more members kept joining the vision. The commitment did not just get confined to one in the family. It flowed through the family, and the Visionaries became a unique club in the entire district where the vision was shared by the spouses too. Most of the children also decided to pitch in with their own share of the zeal by joining the community based Interact Club under the Visionaries.

At Luxbagan in Sundarbans
Visionaries have adopted village parasmoni at sundarbans where they run a free school ROTARY KISHLAY SISHU SIKSHA NIKETAN, having 232 students from class I to VIII . The club provides free midday meal, school uniform, bags, exercise books, stationeries for all students. Apart from the regular curriculum the students are also given classes in drawing , painting, dance and music .
When we believe in a movement, it becomes our responsibility to spread the awareness by carrying and spreading it’simage in every possible way. Wearing a Rotary Pin at all times is the biggest step in spreading the image of Rotary. Talking to friends and families and improving their understanding of Rotary and it’s contributions to the society goes a long way in spreading the awareness of Rotary and it’s objectives.
Literacy is knowledge, literacy is education. Be it adults or children,they will always face obstacles in life due to a lack of basic education, reading & writing and language skills. Illiteracy may thus, more often than not, result in difficulties in ensuring livelihood for themselves and their families, and walk down the path to extreme poverty and loss of livelihood.
One of the major service areas of Rotary is Community Service. Members of our club abide by the pledge to contribute to the community by improving the living conditions for those in their communities and to work towards the interest of the betterment of these communities.

A movement can only sustain if it is carried on by generations after generations. As a part of it’s vision, Rotary Club of Calcutta Visionaries strongly believes in making the next generation sensitive and aware of the objectives of Rotary. Team Visionaries believes in strengthening the roots of the young generation by inculcating the feeling of “service above self” in the early ages. This goes a long way in developing the next generation of leaders. Our youth programs help young leaders build leadership skills, learn the value of service and expand education
